‘Photo of the Week’ is an opportunity to showcase some of the excellent pictures submitted to the Cornwall Birds sightings team on a daily basis. It is chosen by one of a panel of local photographers working in rotation – not an easy task when viewing so many wonderful photos taken in Cornwall. The panel consists of Jasmina Goodair, Adrian Langdon, Adrian Lea and Nick Watmough. They do not consider photos pasted on social media because they could be taken almost anywhere in the world and we want to encourage photographers to submit their records to Cornwall Birds. All photographs must be the sole work of the photographer with no additions or changes including the use of generative A.I.

When coming to a decision numerous factors are considered: maybe something ornithologically interesting (an action, a behaviour, unusual plumage or a rarity), an aesthetic/artistic image, or an educational image maybe comparing similar species. However, it is down to the personal choice of the member of the judging panel.

At the end of the year, members will have the opportunity to vote for Photo of the Year, selected from our weekly choice.
