Ringing reports: West Cornwall Ringing Group have just had a few interesting ring reports come back from BTO, giving an insight into some of the movements of Cornish birds. Details of some daily commuting Storm Petrels and the origin of one of our wintering Chiffchaffs are on the group blog:
Lizard Point: 1 1w Glaucous Gull and 1 Willow Warbler. (M Grantham)
Porthgwarra: 6 Chiffchaffs around the village and c40 Golden Plover circling over the moor. (DK Parker)
Marazion Marsh RSPB: 4 Mute Swan, 5 Canada Geese, 2 Greylag, 3 hybrid geese, 33 Teal, 2 Gadwall, 7 Mallard, 3 Little Grebe, 1 Cormorant, 9 Grey Heron, 1 Bittern, 2 Little Egret, 15 Moorhen, 5 Buzzard, 1 Kestrel, 1 Snipe, 2 Raven mobbed by crows, c20 Sand Martin, 1 Swallow, 7 Cetti’s Warbler, 6 Chiffchaff and 2 Stonechat. Mylor Churchtown: 1 Great Northern Diver, 4 Eider (1 male, 3 female) and 12 Red-breasted Merganser. (J St Ledger)

Penzance, Battery Rocks: 14 Purple Sandpiper. Chyandour: 11w dr Surf Scoter and 1 Great Northern Diver. (Sennen Cove Birdwatching)
Marazion, Trenow Cove: 2 1w Long-tailed Duck. (Sennen Cove Birdwatching)
Falmouth Bay: 1 juv Iceland Bay, 1 Red-necked Grebe and 2 Black-throated Diver. Gorrangorras: 15 Redshank, 4 Greenshank, 1 Common Sandpiper, 5 Turnstone, 2 Little Egret and c15 Mute Swan. Pendennis: 1 Gannet and 2 Linnet. Castle Beach: 1f  Black Redstart and 5+ Oystercatcher. Wood Lane: 2 m+f Sparrowhawk (D Chaney) Swanpool: 1 Slavonian Grebe and 1 Sandwich Tern. (S Perfect)

Argal Reservoir: 9 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Mute Swan, 2 Mallard and1 Tufted Duck. (D Chaney)
College Reservoir: 3 Great Crested Grebe, 7 Coot, 4 Moorhen, 2 Mallard, 5 Tufted Duck, 1 Goldeneye, 3 Grey Heron, 50 Herring Gull, 3 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 2 Great Black-backed Gull and 10 Sand Martin. (D Chaney)
Coverack: 1 Hoopoe in private garden.
Mousehole, St Clement’s Isle: 1 juv Kumlein’s Gull and 1 juv Glaucous Gull joining roost.
Hayle Estuary RSPB: 1 Glaucous Gull.
