Gwennap Head, Porthgwarra: 96 Storm Petrel netted last night, including birds originally ringed in North Yorkshire, Skokholm and France. Thermal imaging showed dozens of birds circling the rocks at any one time (West Cornwall Ringing Group)

The Lizard: (The Point to the Village- Loop Walk) 100+ Manx Shearwater passing West to East, 1 Great Skua heading West mid morning, 6 Swift, 4 House Martin with juvenile, several Swallow over, 1 Sedge Warbler singing/display flight, 3 Common Whitethroat, 2 juv Greenfinch, 4 Skylark aloft, several flock of Linnet, 1 Common Hawker, Meadow Brown, Ringlet, Small Skipper, Red Admiral, Small Heath, Gatekeeper, Silver-Washed Fritillary (5 seen), Speckled Wood, Large White (J Evans)

Hayle: Tawny Owl sat on sign along A30 at 0410. (R Veal)

River Tamar- Cargreen to Salter’s Mill: 2 Cormorant, 2 Little Egret, 1 Grey Heron, 9 Shelduck (1 adult with 2 juveniles and 1 adult with 5 juveniles), 44 Canada Geese, 4 Curlew, 4 Herring Gull, 83 Black-headed Gull, 1 Great Black-backed Gull, 1 Buzzard, 1 Kingfisher, 1 House Martin, 1 Reed Warbler (singing), 1 Great Tit, 1 Goldfinch, 2 Dunnock. Late submission, 17/7, Buttermilk Hill, St Ives: 23 Whitethroat, mainly young birds, all feeding in the Bracken possible local birds; 63 Curlew, 2 Stonechat, (on second brood), 8 pairs of Linnet (on second brood), and 4 pairs of Meadow Pipit still feeding young. (V Stratton)
