Camel Trail and Walmsley Sanctuary
Date/Time: Wednesday 4th November 2026; 10.00am-2.00pm
Meeting Place: Free parking at Old Town Cove, W3W – ///factor.hack.duplicate; then Trewornan Manor Hotel, W3W – ///tacky.cleanser.forwarded
This meet-up has been arranged by the North Cornwall Hub and anyone is welcome to attend. The plan is to park at Old Town Cove and walk along the Camel Trail towards Padstow and back. This should take about 2 hours. Then drive to Walmsley, parking at Trewornan Manor and walk to the reserve and hopefully the new hide. (Note parking at the Manor is not generally available).

It is hoped to see a variety of waders and waterfowl along the estuary side of the Camel Trail. There is also the likelihood of seeing various woodland birds in the trees and shrubbery on the opposite side of the Camel Trail. At Walmsley both resident and passage species such as Gadwall, Green Sandpiper, Little and Cattle Egret, Black-tailed Godwit, Snipe, Greenshank, Marsh Harrier may be seen.
Access and Facilities: Access is generally good along the Camel Trail, and at Walmsley, although it can be muddy following rain. Steps up to the Tower Hide. Toilets in Padstow.
Wear suitable clothing and footwear, bring a snack or packed lunch, binoculars and a telescope would be useful if you have one.
