Nest Recording Training Course

Thursday 23rd May, 9.00am – 3.00pm
Stithians Reservoir, (subject to weather permitting).
Course Organiser: Simon Taylor, BTO Cornwall Rep.
The aims of the course are to give people the confidence and practical skill in finding nests and participate in the BTO Nest Record Scheme. This scheme is one of several recording techniques used by the BTO to monitor bird populations and any changes that might occur.
You will learn about the three nest location techniques – Cold searching, hot searching and watching back. Working in teams of three  you will be looking at old nests, active nests (following the Code of Conduct) and searching for new ones.

Prior to the course, there will be a Zoom session to discuss the Code of Conduct, nest recording theory and the format of the day itself, hopefully led by one of the Nest Records Team at BTO Head Office in Thetford. We will then be able to concentrate on practical field craft on the day.

Please bring packed lunch and wear suitable footwear and clothing.
Booking essential. The course is limited to 9 people and free of charge but you will need to book a place with Simon Taylor .
