Garden Listing 29th January 2021

RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch: If you’re taking part in the RSPB’s Big Garden
Birdwatch over the weekend, please do let us know how you get on (even if you’re not part of the main Cornwall Garden Listing League). We’ll hopefully publish a summary of the results during the week. Good luck!

Crowlas: A quiet week but an overdue Rook flew over on 26th and an adult Common Gull over on 28th (average of just 3 records/year for the garden) taking list up to 43. (R Veal)

Coverack: 1 Green Woodpecker has been regularly visiting a nearby telegraph pole for the past 2 days. Takes the list to 42. Also thought I heard a Jay whilst still in bed, but no sign by the time I got to the window so that tick will have to wait. (Dan Beadle)

Callestick: A good few days here with four more species taking the total to 46. Collared Dove and Mistle Thrush were straight forward. However, seeing one of the two Little Egrets that hang out in a nearby cow field involved 15 attempts standing on the bed looking through the top of the window at a distant gap in the hedge and hoping one would walk past. Luckily it did and I got 3 Common Gulls in the same field. My wife thinks I’m taking it too seriously! (Tony Wilson)

Creegbrawse, Chacewater: Black-headed Gull and Meadow Pipit for 33. (Brian Toms)
