Garden Listing 3rd March 2021

Coverack: 4 ticks in a very successful hour on the roof with the scope this evening, making the most of excellent visibility! A distant male Stonechat back on territory was number 49, my all-time garden list was taken to 97 with my first record of a Shag here (Shag/Cormorant regular from the roof but at 2 miles away from coast they’re not usually identifiable to species level), my second Fulmar for the garden was number 51 and a heard-only pheasant was number 52. A female Blackbird collecting nesting material, a flyover bat sp. in the evening and a Common Lizard a short distance up the road from the garden were added bonuses – spring is definitely on its way! Garden Listing 1st March 2021

Praa Sands: With the sea calming down after the storms, took a look out at the bay; busy with birds. Among them 52, a few Red-throated divers; 53, two Guillemot in with Razorbills and 54, a number of Kittiwakes – all new to my garden list. (Matt Southam)

Crowlas: An eruption of Pigeons revealed a huge, presumably female Peregrine – number 56. Linnet is now the last expected species here in winter not to have made an appearance. (Reuben Veal)
