Palores deadline: The deadline for article submissions for the next Palores magazine is midnight Saturday 6th January. Reserve reports, articles, news and snippets – send them in!

January 1st 2018 Cornwall Bird Race/Green Challenge: New Year’s Day Bird Race/Green Challenge to get folk out birding, get the yearlist started and see who can see the most birds on Jan 1st on their local patch or by green birding! Open Wildlife- Landscape Photographic Evening: on January Wednesday 10th. 7.30pm at Griffin Hotel, Cliff Rd, Newquay. Postcode TR7 1SP. An informal evening for all members and friends to come along and show your photographs and slides of the wildlife and landscape you have taken at home and abroad. We have a digital projector to show your digital photos so bring up to 10 photos on a memory stick. No pets please Wildlife and Landscapes only. RSPB surveys and monitoring 2018 – can you help?

Corn bunting. Assistance May-August with regular counts for singing males and also nest locations between Newquay and Padstow, particularly where nests are in grass fields and at risk of grass cutting operations.

Snipe. Dusk/dawn surveys for drumming males in likely marshes on Bodmin Moor.

Curlew and Lapwing. Assistance with locating any Curlew and Lapwing on Bodmin Moor to assess numbers and breeding status.
