This week Jasmina has scrutinised the fine selection of images sent in by our keen photographers around the county. Thanks Jasmina and here’s her summary of the week.

”Quite a mix of birds this week with some migrants now appearing on our estuaries such as Black tailed Godwits by Gerry Gillard, a Knot by Robin Hampshire, the lovely Mediterranean Gull by Gary Treadwell and Curlew Sandpiper by Shaun Grose.

Equally represented were many of our summer visitors, which are coming towards the end of their breeding season and preparing for their long journeys to winter grounds. I did like Lynn Colliver’s Sand Martin, Common Whitethroat by Caroline Taylor, Paul Davies’s Lesser Whitethroat and Vic Booth’s Wheatear.

Rupert Kirkwood yet again provided some excellent pelagic images of a Storm Petrel and Wilson’s Petrel – 2 birds I would love to add to my life list.

It was good to see parent birds feeding young this week such as the Goldfinch by Martin Yelland, Moorhen by Martin Webb and the newly fledged Marsh Harriers at Walmsley by Paul Davies.

It was Martin Webb with his happy Tufted Duck and his Little Egret balanced in a tree versus Adrian Lea’s Bar headed Goose and Green Woodpecker feeding a fledgling that gave me the challenge this week and I have chosen the Green Woodpecker. Well done Adrian, well caught and commiserations Martin, your Little Egret was a close second.”

Congratulations to our very own Adrian Lea who managed to take time out from organising AGMs and Board Meetings and take this fine shot of the adult male woodpecker regurgitating a tasty ant egg meal.
