Many thanks to Adrian Lea who taken time out from preparing for next weeks board meeting to discuss this week’s submissions.

The week certainly began strong with Martin Webb providing an excellent Wryneck photo from Lands End, I loved the texture of the bird and the wooden fence upon which it appeared to be enjoying the warm autumnal sun.  Steve Rogers also provided a great Curlew Sandpiper photo while Gerry Gillard provided another excellent Kingfisher shot, both from Ryans Field.

Tuesday provided a great record shot of a Long-eared Owl taken near Cadgwith by Stuart Croft, that must have been a surprise encounter for both parties.  

The fine weather and excellent photographs continued on Wednesday when Nick Watmough beautifully captured the Arctic Tern at Argal Reservoir and I also enjoyed the Wryneck by Phil Taylor and the Wheatear by Alistair Swanson.

On Thursday I applauded the Chough photographs submitted by Martin Webb.

Things got very exciting on Friday with the submission of some great photographs of an Isabelline Wheatear at LandsEnd Airport by Nigel Rogers and a Wood Warbler at Caerthillian photographed excellently by David Collins, Jonathan Warner and Stephen Rowe.

Saturday brought us an excellent Little Stint photographed by Tony Blunden at Windmill Farm and a beautifully composed Grey Heron by Fary Afshar.

Just when the week appeared to be ending it transpired that the Grey Phalarope at St Gothian Sands had been joined by a Red-necked Phalarope and this was expertly photographed by Adrian Langdon, Gill Fisher,  Steve Rowe, Nigel Rogers and Caroline Taylor while Mark James and Caroline Taylor provided some great images of a Pectoral Sandpiper at Hayle Estuary.

The standard and subject matter of the photographs submitted this week have been very high but the photograph that I would select for photo of the week is the Red-necked Phalarope by Adrian Langdon, a beautifully pin sharp action photo.
