‘Apart from a few long standing visitors this week it was a relatively quiet week for the unusual. Monday was a quiet start to the photography with S Ford’s Dusky Warbler taking top spot though Vic Booth’s Red Kite and J Dover’s Kestrel were competent images; however my personal favourite was the Armed Knight Rock at Land’s End by Martin Webb covered in mixed auks.

Tuesday bought some lovely images of Kumlien’s Gull by Nigel Rogers and a Blackcap by Tim Culmer.
Wednesday, Vic Booth had a busy day at Porth and Carbis Moor with a few images – I particularly liked his Grey Wagtail shot. I also liked Martin Webb’s Common Sandpiper.

Thursday produced a lot of very good images. In particular I liked Paul Davies’ flight shots of Teal with a single Dunlin and the mixed godwits with a single Knot. In both shots you could clearly see the differences of the different birds. There were also excellent shots of a Dusky Warbler by Andy Tomkins and a Stonechat in flight by Martin Webb.

Friday, Adrian Lea had a charming shot of a pair of Stonechats and on Saturday I liked Gavin William’s shot of a Wheatear, newly arriving this year. Finally on Sunday there was a delightful shot of a Bonaparte’s Gull by Steve Cox, with its beak wide open – yawning or calling???

The decision for this week’s Photo of the week was between two shots from Thursday; the very well presented Dusky Warbler by Andy Tomkins and the very sharp close up of the Stonechat in flight with just a little blur in the wing to show the movement by Martin Webb.

Well done Martin – a great shot and this week’s choice. Thank you to everyone – you do make our job a hard one.
