It’s Adrian Lea’s turn to choose from this week’s superb selection of pictures submitted alongside the photographers daily sightings. Many thanks Adrian. Here’s his review:-

‘This week’s photographs oozed quality from the outset, with G Williams setting a very high standard with Golden Plover and Lapwing photographs from Davidstow on Monday, I also really liked the Coal Tit by A Swanson at Minions – well done indeed for finding a Coal Tit that would keep still long enough to have a photograph taken!

Tuesday brought us another excellent video courtesy of John Chapple, great to see footage of the Curlew Sandpiper and Sanderling at Marazion – thanks John.

The fine weather on Wednesday assisted the submission of some fantastic photographs of the Dotterel at Nanjizal by Gill Fisher and Neil Best and the Bar-tailed Godwit, Knot and Ringed Plover at Rock Beach by C Birts.

Thursday brought us an inspiring Kingfisher action shot by Gerry Gillard at Ryan’s Field – just look at those water droplets – while Gill Fishers perseverance paid dividends with a great Osprey in flight shot at Point Quay.

Friday delivered another excellent video, this time courtesy of Tony Mills, with a lovely pair of Little Grebe fishing at Drift Reservoir while I also loved the Whimbrel in flight at Point Quay by Mark James.

The Cattle Egret at Walmsley Sanctuary by Bob Bosisto certainly made me smile on Saturday.

Sunday brought us some excellent record shots of Wood and Pectoral Sandpiper and Arctic Tern at Drift Reservoir and Arctic Skua and Pomarine Skua at St Ives Island by Adam Holmes, while Ian Hampton also managed an excellent record shot of an unusual visitor, an Arctic Tern at Stithians Reservoir. Gerry Gillard also provided another great image, this time a Turnstone at Newlyn Harbour while I loved the contrasting blue and yellow provided by the Grey Wagtail photographed by Martin Webb at Tolcarne Bridge.

There were some excellent photographs submitted this week, assisted by a combination of excellent birding and fine weather, and I did ask for household assistance to choose a photo of the week. Interestingly the two favourite photographs were both submitted by Gill Fisher – Osprey in flight and Dotterel in motion – and my choice between these great images is the Dotterel.
