This week’s photos were judged by our Membership Secretary, Jasmina Goodair. It’s a busy time for Jasmina with hundreds of membership renewals to process so we’re grateful she has taken time out to choose our PotW.
‘A mixed week of weather and light conditions for photography but as always, our photographers have been out in force to capture our wonderful birds. On Monday the Pacific Diver by Steve Rogers was a great capture. Tuesday, Adrian Lea’s shot of a Common Sandpiper was very pleasing. I loved the grouping of the Cattle Egrets and Spoonbill by Paul Davies on Wednesday and also thought the shot by Derrick of the Redwing very charming… Thursday had some great shots of the over-wintering Long-tailed Duck at Newquay by Martin Webb, Little Egret by Sam Norris, Black Redstart by Tyrone Burgin and Purple Sandpipers again by Adrian Lea. Friday bought us more amazing shots of Great White Egret (Martin Webb) and Chiffchaff (Jonathan Warner). Saturday saw Gavin Williams images of Ring-necked Ducks back at Dozmary and Sunday the Kestrel by G Gillard caught my eye.
I struggled to pick this week’s Photo of the Week between Adrian Langdon’s Firecrest – a brilliant shot of a difficult and elusive bird to photograph – technically perfect – but have chosen the 4 Goosanders taking off from the Hayle Estuary by Mark James who has excellently caught the flight and movement of these. Well done Mark.’
