Adrian Lea has perused the pictures submitted to the sightings team and chosen his favourite.

The Whiskered Tern, first reported by Lizard birder Jake Selby, appeared to be feeding well at Helston Loe Pool, and its extended stay allowed a good number of birders to experience what was only the 12th recorded sighting of such a bird in Cornwall. Steve Rogers was able to provide some great shots of this bird on Monday and Gill Fisher added beautifully to this portfolio on Tuesday.
On Wednesday Martin Webb provided some great wetland/shorebird photographs taken at Ryans Field and I also enjoyed the Fulmar photographs submitted by Caroline Taylor. The late submission record shots of Pomarine Skua and Balearic Shearwater submitted by Steve Rogers on Thursday represent excellent photos for our records team.
On Friday, with inclement weather unfolding, Adam Holmes was able to provide a lovely Ringed Plover photo from Copperhouse Pool, Hayle, while Steven Wood kindly submitted some excellent Swift photos from Croft Pascoe Pool.
The poor weather on Saturday clearly had a detrimental impact on birding activity – so well done to Steve Bury for submitting an important record shot of the short-staying Gull-billed Tern at Helston Loe Pool.
On Sunday Rupert Kirkwood provided an excellent photo of a Great Northern Diver taken in St Austell Bay while Alistair Swanson submitted some great Swallow photographs taken at Siblyback Lake.
While some excellent photographs have been submitted to our records team this week I think my favourite photograph is the Whiskered Tern by Steve Rogers.
