Many thanks to Adrian Langdon who reviewed the week ending Sunday 9th Feb 2025.
“Yet another week that featured some stunning images. Just when I thought I had a winner…..up popped another! This happened twice as I took close looks at the array of photos on the “Recent sightings” pages.
Leader of the field on Monday was the superb shot of a Gadwall in flight by Paul Howrihane, closely followed by a Black-necked Grebe from John St.Ledger and a Long-tailed Tit from Lynn Colliver.
Adrian Lea’s Goldeneye image stood out on Tuesday whilst Bob Sharples Little Gull catching an insect took the lead by the middle of the week.
Stonechats by both Martin Webb and Amber Kirk looked great on Thursday as did a Great-northern Diver with a flounder by Deena Sharp.
By Friday Tony Mills had posted strong images of a drake Wigeon in flight alongside a Curlew in flight. Steve Rogers’ Marsh Harrier at Long Rock Pool was another classy picture. The Raven by Martin Webb also caught my eye.
Finally on Saturday another contender took the top spot with 2 Redshanks fighting at Hayle estuary and expertly photographed by Jon Irvine. This is a top photograph with lots of action, plenty of depth of field and excellent focus.
Congratulations Jon on this week’s Photo of the Week.”
