“Portscatho seemed to be the place for photos on the Monday with a couple for great images starting the week off well. I enjoyed seeing the Great Northern Diver by Caroline Taylor and this was trumped by a stunning shot of a Black-necked Grebe by Paul Howrihane.
A private garden at Chacewater yielded 3 Stock Doves, one of which was shown as a quality portrait for R. Loader and was selected for Photo of the Day on Tuesday. A Great-crested Grebe with a fish was another fine photo thanks to Kathy White.
Photo of the day on Wednesday was a cracking little Yellow-browed Warbler by J. Warner down on the edge of Mounts Bay. Martin Webb continued his run of top images with 2 super shots of a Little Egret at Ryans Field, Hayle.
Up in the east of the county Darrell Clegg produced a fine portrait of a female Pintail at Millbrook Pond.
Treraven meadows at Wadebridge was the location for Jasmina Goodair to capture a top portrait of a Grey Heron and then to complete her submission managed to nab a shot of the Green-winged Teal harassing a drake Eurasian Teal.
On Friday Martin Webb produced 2 cracking images of a Great White Egret at Marazion Marsh, I particularly like the one where it has struck at a small fish that is in its bill with all the water droplets around it.
On Sunday there was another top quality Great-crested Grebe, this time with a Palmate Newt in its beak captured by Connor Motley at Stithians.
I’ve been monitoring the sightings page all week, but I’ve stuck with my favourite photo from the first day of the week… nothing has toppled it despite some strong competition.
