Message from Catherine Beazley RSPB Cornwall Reserves Administrator: “I noticed the following report from daily sightings:
Hayle Estuary RSPB: (all birds on main estuary disturbed by 2 paddle boarders early am). (S Grose)
The paddleboard disturbance is obviously of concern to us on the SSSI. Not sure what the best way to go about it is but perhaps if you get other such info through this platform, please ask the reporter to get in touch with us with more info via [email protected]
It’s a tricky one but if someone witnesses an active disturbance on the SSSI (human, dog, vehicle), we do ask them to call the police if possible. If they do this or not, it’s very helpful to get photos or video of the event if safe to do so. This is difficult as people often feel this is too extreme an action and often the disturbance has taken place before anything much can be done. Thank you for your help, Catherine
