We are saddened to learn of the passing of Roger Smaldon and our thoughts go out to his family and friends.
”Roger was a life- long member of CBWPS and a great supporter of birding in Cornwall. He was a loyal friend to many Cornish birders.
He acted as CBWPS Assistant County Recorder for several years in the 1980’s but he will best be remembered for finding the first Wilson’s Warbler for the Western Palearctic at Rame Head on 13th October 1985.
He will also be remembered for his work with the Dartmoor Bird Group and his seminal work ‘The Birds of Dartmoor’ published in 2005.”
