Roadworks at Stithians. Please note: the public highway along the southern part of the Lake, between Carnkie and Penmarth is subject to a ‘rolling-programme’ of roadworks/closures over the next 4wks. The road is currently closed at the Carnkie end, access to the hides is available from the Penmarth direction – but this will change over the coming weeks as trenchwork progresses along this road.

Dobwalls: 5 Swift heading west (C&J Duffy)

Downderry: 64 Gannet and 19 Mediterranean Gull flew west before 0700. c40 Manx Shearwater east. (A Payne)

St Gothian Sands LNR: 1juv Northern Wheatear, 1m Stonechat, 7 Linnet, 4 (1m 3f) Tufted Duck and 10 ducklings, 7 Mallard, 3 (2ad 1juv) Little Grebe, 150+ Canada Goose. (10.00 – 11.00 M Webb)

Pentire Headland: 1 Goldfinch, Numerous Skylark, 1 Wren, 14 Linnet, 2 still bringing in nesting material, 7 Herring Gull, 4 Stonechat plus 2 fledglings, 1 Blackbird, 1 Lesser Black-backed gull, 1 Carrion Crow. (A Quincey)

Stithians Lake: 1 pr whitethroat feeding young in nest. 8+ little egret & 6+ grey heron in southern cut-off as water level begins to drop. (A Lea)

St Ives Island (06:35 -08:40): 3 Balearic Shearwater (06:44, 06:49, 07:19), 2 Sooty Shearwater (07:49, 08:00), Manx Shearwaters at 10/second for first 90 minutes, 3 Sandwich Terns (P Nason).
