Late News: We have just received details from BTO of a few Chiffchaffs caught at Gwennap/Carnon Downs Sewage Works over the winter. Four ‘controls’ were caught, having been ringed:
- in Falkirk, Scotland, as a juvenile in Spetember 2012
- at Sandwich Bay Bird Observatory, Kent, as a passage bird in October 2012
- at Nanjizal, Land’s End, in October 2012 (an interesting northerly movement)
- at College Reservoir in December 2012 – this was a tristis Chiffchaff recaught almost two months after being ringed. (per M Grantham)

Marazion Marsh RSPB: 5 Mute Swan (including 1 immature, also 1 dead swan on the railway line. per P St Pierre) 4 Greylag (plus 6 goslings), 8 Canada Geese, 2 Gadwall, 5 Mallard (plus broods of 12 & 2), 1 Cormorant, 1 Little Egret, 11 Grey Heron, 12 Moorhen, 2 Common Buzzard, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 female Marsh Harrier at 08:30, c50 Swallow, c20 Sand Martin, 5+ Swift, c7 White Wagtail, 3 Wheatear, 2 Reed Bunting, 1 Whitethroat, 4+ Cetti’s Warbler, 1 Chiffchaff, Willow Warblers, Reed Warblers and Sedge Warblers. Marazion: 48 Dunlin, 36 Ringed Plover, 19 Whimbrel, 9 Turnstone, 1 Bar-tailed Godwit, 2 Common Sandpiper and c10 White Wagtail on the beach plus 3 Sandwich Tern offshore. (D Parker)
Porthgwarra to St Levan: 1 Grasshopper Warbler, 5 Whitethroat, 7 Chiffchaff and 3 Whimbrel. (D Parker)
St Levan to Roskestal Farm: 7 Whitethroat, 4 Chiffchaff, 2 Blackcap, 2 Skylark and 33 Whimbrel. (D Parker)

Land’s End: Male Woodchat at Trevilley Farm. Park in the layby on the B3315 north of the entrance to the farm and walk along the access track to view the field on the left at cSW360246 from either 100m before the farm buildings or at the end of the metalled track by the farm buildings. Sennen: 7 Wheatear, 3 Whitethroat, 5 Chiffchaff, 3 Skylark, 6 Pied Wagtail and 1 Grey Wagtail around the Brew sewerage works. (D Parker)

Gorrangorras, Penryn River: 2 Little Egret, 3 Redshank, 1 Greenshank, 3 Whimbrel and 1 Common Sandpiper 2 hours after high tide. (D Chaney)
Falmouth, Gyllyngvase Beach: 1 Sandwich Tern, 10 Oystercatcher, 1 Turnstone, 2 Swallows and a good passage of Gannet. (J St Ledger)

Argal Reservoir: 10+ Swift, 3 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Sparrowhawk, 2 Blackcap, 1 Nuthatch, 2 Mute Swan (one on a nest), plus good numbers of hirundines, Willow Warbler and Chiffchaff. (J St Ledger)
Treverva: Fem Ring Ouzel on the grass verge of the Constantine Road at SW757304 also Dunnock nest with 5 eggs in a private garden in Treverva. (S Scott)
Cot Valley: 1s fem Woodchat still.
Lizard: Hoopoe still in fields at Church Cove near the church hall in the morning.
Helford: Juv Iceland Gull near Helford.
