Late news, 3/2, Newlyn, Sandy Cove: 2 Common Scoter. (P Smale)

Penzance, Chyandour: 11.00 and 12.00 a mixed flock of 20 Ringed Plover, 19 Sanderling and 9 Dunlin. At 14.30 another mixed flock (presumably part of the earlier sighting) was at the side of Jubilee Pool (9 Ringed Plover, 7 Sanderling and 4 Dunlin) with 3+ Purple Sandpiper and 4 Turnstone. Hayle Estuary RSPB Reserve, Ryan’s Field: 1 juv Peregrine (ringed as a nestling by the West Cornwall Ringing Group last June, this is the first recorded sighting since then), 1 Firecrest, 3 Chiffchaff and 1 Grey Wagtail. (A James, B Porter) Also 26 Lapwing (one recently killed by a Peregrine left in front of the hide) 1 Snipe, 2 Raven flew south, 4 Redshank. The bushes by the Eric Grace memorial hide contained Chaffinch, Wren, Long-tailed Tit, 2 Blue Tit, Goldcrest, 4 Dunnock and Blackbird. (P Freestone) Estuary: 85 Curlew, 16 Dunlin, 1 Bar-tailed Godwit, 2 Black-tailed Godwit, 30+ Wigeon, 3 Little Egret, 1 Spoonbill, 270+ Herring Gull, 60+ Great Black-backed Gull, 60+ Lesser Black-backed Gull, 160+ Black-headed Gull, 10 Mediterranean Gull, 40+ Teal and 8 Shelduck. (P Freestone) Copperhouse Creek: 30 Dunlin, 9 Ringed Plover, 1 Greenshank, 1 Grey Plover, 1 Linnet, 14 Redshank, 118 Herring Gull, 2 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 2 Great Black-backed Gull, 2 Little Egret, 20+ Wigeon and 40+ Woodpigeon flew south.
