Quick Query Re Magpies:  No Magpies seen in my garden for three weeks, (and fewer in the countryside) This is very unusual. Has anyone else noticed their absence or reduced numbers? Many birds species are suffering from the drought. A farmer friend tells me badgers are dying of starvation due to no worms. (Roy Phillips)

Walmsley Sanctuary: 1 Wood Sandpiper still present this morning. (A McKechnie, B Dodd)

Drift Reservoir (members only): 1 Wood Sandpiper still present, 3 Common Sandpiper and lots of Willow Warblers, also 1 Red Fox. (L Proctor)

Marazion: 9 Sanderling and 2 Dunlin (all adults) at Red River mouth and several Mediterranean Gulls offshore. (B Hibbett)

Killiow Golf Club: 3 Mistle Thrush, 1 Barn Owl hunting 10.00am.  ( B. Toms)

Par Beach Lake: 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull  (graellsii), 1 Grey Heron, 1 Coot, 3 Cormorant, 7 Moorhen ( 2 adults and 5 juvenile). (R. Barlow)

Rock Beach:14 Sandwich Tern feeding in main channel between here and Padstow, also 21 Mediterranean Gull in the same area. 1 Kestrel with Goldfinch prey. (S Grose)

Nanjizal: 137 birds ringed including 78 Sedge Warbler, 11 Reed Warbler, 9 Whitethroat, 22 Willow Warbler, 3 Grasshopper Warbler, 3 Chiffchaff and 1 Blackcap. (K Wilson)
