St Ives Island: Pale phase Arctic Skua west at 08:45, 1 Black-throated Diver, 3 Red-throated Diver (2 in morning 1 in afternoon), minimum of 5 Great Northern Diver; at least 1000 Golden Plover in several flocks high and distant offshore moving west then east repeating what they did a couple of days ago. Hayle Estuary Saltings Platform: At least 1 Water Pipit and 10 Meadow Pipit in ‘Birdies Bistro’ corner at high tide, 9 Grey Plover, 12 Bar-tailed Godwit, 1 Pintail, 1 dark-bellied Brent Goose, 34 Common Gull, at least 1 Yellow-legged Gull and a probable ‘argentatus’ Herring Gull – initially hoped it might be a Caspian with dark mantle, ‘slopey’ forehead and a ‘snouty’ straight bill – but pale eye, lack of ‘clean’ white head and lack of long ‘legs’ ruled that out, dark mantled like a Yellow-legged Gull almost.
